365 days of haiku to tell the story of 2020.

Like a haiku, this site was designed with a simple mission in mind: to compose and publish one haiku per day.  If nothing else, the site’s raison d’etre is to send off one 17 – or close to it – syllable poem a day into the din of the modern world.  Hopefully, amidst this collection, one of these poems will find new breath with an audience, possibly even inspire creations of their own.

If any of the poems upon this page speak to you, inspire you to create, submit your creations.  Paintings, drawings, poems, short stories, pictures, sculptures, songs, dances, movies, etc.  The site’s base mission is simple, its ideal mission is to pair each one of these haiku with an accompanying piece of art, to inspire each other, to make us think, to plant the seeds of poetry – and foster its tree to growth.

Like a haiku, the site was designed to be simple, yet like a haiku, there are layers of depth of complexity that may not be visible upon one’s first read-through.  A clever pun, an allusion.  A feeling, a universal truth captured in verse.

How magical is that?  To fossilize emotions in words, to capture a moment of this life in verse so that future generations can look upon the art, brush off the coating dust, and breathe into it new life?
